the absurd hero, 2011 |
It's called 'the absurd hero', and is based on the character of 'Sisyphus' from ancient Greek mythology; a man condemned to an eternal labour. The story of Sisyphus was also adopted by my main man Albert Camus in his entirely beautiful essay 'Le Mythe de Sisyphe' (The Myth of Sisyphus) 1942, to explore the concept of absurdist philosophy.
This is possibly my favourite book (and the inspiration for my blog name..) and this tiny publication is a little homage to Camus and Sisyphus.
Digital print, black and white, limited run.
"The struggle itself...is enough to fill a man's heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy."
